Archive for February, 2011

Er, make that 5 minute madness. I’ve got 5 minutes left in my break but I’m determined to get a post out…because I feel like a slack blogger.

I read people’s blogs frequently, and then it makes me want to post. Sometimes I feel like I have nothing to post about though. Oh well, here we go.

A couple of things:

~Have not been to “Big House” in quite awhile, returning tonight, hopefully fully energized to hang with some cool middle school kids.

~24 weeks preg, 16 weeks to meeting the babe 🙂 AHH wait, the time left is less than the time I’ve been preg? EEK! exciting and nerve racking.

~ Made dinner for my sweet husband last night, he was going to be home around 7…he did not get home until 8:15ish. I was so bummed we missed a hour and fifteen minutes of quality time, but he was at Bible study…how could I complain about that? We ended up having some great conversation and laughs when he got home, it was one of my favorite nights in awhile.

~I think reading people’s confusion over the weather is funny. Why are you confused that it is cold again in Feb? It’s Feb. Also, why are you confused at the fluctuating temps (70s one day, 40s the next), ever read your Bible?

~I craved M&Ms yesterday but did not want to spend money on buying any. This morning at work I got a good laugh (and so did my friend/co-worker Meghann) that I had trail mix at my desk all along…complete with M&Ms.

~I wonder if anyone surprising reads my blog. Not a ton of people comment. So, here’s the task – 5 people comment that haven’t before. ❤

Love to all. Lyss & baby.

AND no, we don’t have a name yet. Thanks for asking though!

Age: 22

Hair color: Brown

Eye color: Brown

First child?: YEP!

About the daddy!

Name: Joseph

Age: 25

Hair color: Brown

Eye color: They kind of change depending on what he is wearing, green and sometimes blue

First child?: YEP!

Finding out!!

What day did you find out?: October 14 2010

How did you feel when you found out?: Pretty excited and a little freaked out

Who was with you?: Haha, I didn’t think I was actually pregnant, so I took the test when Joseph wasn’t home, whoops!

Who was the first person you told?: Joseph, then we told our parents/siblings the next day

How did they react?: Everyone was really excited

How did the daddy react?:He was excited and reminded me this was God’s plan!

Telling the grandparents(aka your parents)!

How did your parents react?: Very happy, and maybe a couple of tears of joy

How did his parents react?: Same as above

Are they helping with baby names?: Maybe a suggestion here or there, nothing annoying or persistent though

Have they bought anything for the baby yet?: Yep! Some cute threads.

How often do they call to check on you?: I talk to my mom everyday, and usually my dad almost everyday. Joseph talks to his parents pretty frequently, too. We facebook it up with everyone as well.

About the pregnancy!

When was your first appointment?: October 22 2010, Happy Birthday Zack Hanson

When is your due date?: June 15

How far along are you?: 23 weeks

Pre-pregnancy weight?: WHAT the crap. Haha.

Weight now?: Floating around 160

Have you had any ultrasounds?: We have had three so far

Have you heard the heartbeat?: Yes

What was the heartbeat?: it’s been everywhere from the 160s to the 130s depending on how active she is

Sex of the baby!

Are you finding out the sex or will you wait until birth?: We found out, baby girl

What do you want?: I think I wanted a girl but I thought it was a boy

What does the daddy want?: He wanted a healthy baby

If you have kids, what do they want?: Marley wanted anything that didn’t make him less important

What do you think you are having?: ..

Have you had your big ultrasound yet?: Yes

If so, what are you having?: Redundant. Girl.

If you have kids, are they happy with the sex of the new baby?: Marley always talks about his baby sister!

Are you & daddy happy with what you are having?: Definitely

About the birth!

Do you know what you are taking with you?: According to magazines you need to take about 10 different things, according to mothers you need to take your sanity and check it at the door, and according to my nature I will forget most things anyways.

Who is going to be with you?: Joseph, I’m sure some combination of our parents / siblings will be in the waiting room too

Are you going to videotape it?: Blah, no. Weird. Sorry for those who video tapped. Maybe after she is out, but videotaping the birth…nope nope.

Natural or medicated?: Epidural, pretty much any woman that has done both has said GET THE DRUGS.

Do you think you will need a c-section?: I do not think so at this time

Will you cry when you hold your baby for the first time?: I cry all the time, so I think so

Do you think the daddy will cry?: Hmm, he isn’t much of a crier, he will more have a cheesy grin and say something sarcastic to cover his emotion of being melted

Do you know what you will say to the baby when you first hold him/her?: I love you

Are you scared about the labor?: YEP.

Names!!

Do you have a name picked out?: We toss around names every so often, but nothing is set in stone.

Girl names…: Usually when we share our names with others, they don’t always like them, so I’ll skip this for now…

Boy names…: Not needed

Is your baby going to be named after someone?: Joseph would like to incorporate a biblical name whether first or middle, but we don’t plan on using a family name or anything. Too many people in the family to please or hurt their feelings

Other random questions!!.

Have you felt the baby move?: YES! She kicks me a lot, but when I want others to feel her she gets quiet.

Do you have stretch marks yet?: No, thankfully

What was your first symptom?: Sickness, all day sickness

Will your baby have godparents?: No, I don’t think so?

Who will the god mommy be?: n/a

Who will the god daddy be?: n/a

What is the baby’s room theme?: No theme picked out. I love owls, so there will be at least one owl in there.

What was the first thing you bought for the baby?: Joseph bought her a nativity set out of veggie tale characters

If you already have kids, how do you think they will adjust to the new baby?: Marley may try to eat her or lick her. We are hoping the second option.

Will you cloth diaper?: We are surely going to try

BFing or formula?:Attempting the first

What is your favorite pregnancy book?: What to Expect When You’re Expecting

What do you look forward to doing again once you are no longer pregnant?: Sleeping on my stomach!!!

What physical features do you hope the baby will get from daddy?: His eyes, nose, skin (he has a natural tan and doesn’t break out like me)

What physical features do you hope the baby will get from you?: My hair, although I hated curly hair for awhile…it is super cute on little girls.

Is he ready to be a daddy?: I don’t know if you can be “ready” for parenthood

Are you ready to be a mommy?: See above

This was kind of fun, hope you enjoyed.
